At least three people were detained in the early hours of Friday in the municipality of Alijó, as part of a GNR operation targeting drug trafficking.

During the early hours of Friday, officers of the Guarda Nacional Republicana (National Republican Guard) carried out a police operation in the municipality of Alijó, in the district of Vila Real, which resulted in the capture of several individuals linked to the illicit trade of psychotropic substances.
The operation covered several civil parishes of the municipality simultaneously, namely Alijó, Favaios, Presandães and Vilarinho de Cotas. According to an official source from GNR Vila Real, the total number of arrests exceeds the three suspects initially confirmed, although the precise figure will only be made public next week.
Those detained will be brought before the competent judicial authority for the appropriate enforcement measures to be applied in the case.
