Detained in Porto convicted of 16 child sexual abuse material and child sexual abuse crimes
A 29-year-old man convicted in Alentejo for child sexual abuse material and child sexual abuse offences was intercepted and detained in the early hours of Saturday on Avenida Sidónio Pais in the Bessa area of Porto, reported Correio da Manhã. The detention took place at 02:45 at Aldoar police station after the suspect was found in a homeless situation.
According to an official source from Porto's PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública), the defendant was convicted of 16 aggravated child sexual abuse material offences, two crimes of child sexual abuse and one crime of soliciting a minor for sexual purposes. The offences were committed between 2020 and 2022, mainly against adolescent girls aged 14 and 15, using the Internet.
The method used by the detainee involved video calls through which he solicited the victims. After gaining some trust and convincing them of a romantic connection, he would record the acts and use this material to blackmail them, demanding greater exposure from them, explained a police source.
The Portalegre Court sentenced the defendant to five and a half years in prison, a decision that became final. Following the detention, the man was taken to a correctional facility to serve his sentence.
