The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a 43-year-old man wanted by Brazil for homicide offences, with the man being held in pre-trial detention whilst the extradition process is underway, according to information released by the PJ on Wednesday.
According to reports by Google News PT — Crime (pt), the detainee was brought before the Évora Court of Appeal, which ordered his pre-trial detention. The citizen had been sentenced to 14 years in prison for homicide as a co-perpetrator "in both attempted and completed form".
According to the PJ, the facts date back to August 2005 in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The man, acting as a co-perpetrator, forced entry into the victims' residence and fired several shots, fatally striking one of them. The other survived, according to the PJ, "only by chance".
"After the crime, the suspects were seen fleeing the scene on a motorcycle," added the same source. The extradition process to Brazil is now proceeding with the suspect in pre-trial detention.
