The Judicial Police has arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of attempted qualified homicide and possession of a prohibited firearm, following an armed confrontation between two family clans in Rio Tinto, Gondomar.

A 30-year-old individual was apprehended by the Judicial Police, through the Northern Directorate, in execution of search warrants. The case dates back to September of last year, when a shooting broke out in Rio Tinto, in the municipality of Gondomar, Porto district.

On the night of 13 September, two rival groups, each linked to a family in conflict, confronted each other on the street. Those involved used pistols of various calibres, causing considerable alarm among residents of the area.

During searches conducted by the Judicial Police, the suspect was caught in flagrante delicto. A pistol, 130 bullets and other objects with evidentiary value for the investigation were recovered from him.

The detainee will be brought before the competent judge for the first interrogation and decision on the coercive measures to be applied.
