Man aged 40 arrested in Coimbra for domestic violence against ex-wife
The Coimbra PSP arrested a 40-year-old man accused of assaulting his ex-spouse, aged 41, who had recently undergone surgery. The victim also reported death threats and intimidating behaviour.

The Coimbra PSP arrested a 40-year-old man on Wednesday accused of the crime of domestic violence against his ex-wife, aged 41. According to Observador, the arrest took place at 15:00, in the Eiras area, to the north of the city, following a report of disputes between ex-spouses.
Officers attended the victim's residence and established that she had been physically assaulted by the suspect, namely through hair-pulling. The woman also reported previous episodes of assaults, death threats and intimidating behaviour.
The victim stated that, despite the relationship having ended more than three months ago, the suspect refused to leave the residence. The PSP emphasised that the woman "was in a situation of particular physical and emotional vulnerability, having undergone a surgical procedure a few days before, presenting a high state of fear and concern regarding the suspect's behaviour".
The victim was transported to hospital for medical observation. The suspect was held in the detention cells of the Coimbra District PSP Command, awaiting presentation before the competent judicial authority.
