40-year-old man arrested by Judicial Police for two attempted murders with knife in Lagoa

The Judicial Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Portimão, arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of two counts of attempted aggravated homicide and possession of a prohibited weapon. According to Google News PT — Crime (pt), the events occurred in the early hours of 25 August in Lagoa.
The suspect initiated a dispute with the first victim, a 42-year-old man with whom he shared accommodation, allegedly over matters related to religious beliefs. During the altercation, he obtained a penknife with a blade approximately 10 cm long and inflicted eight blows to various parts of the body, some potentially fatal: abdomen, thorax — with lung perforation — and neck area.
The suspect then went to the room of a second victim, a 35-year-old man, kicked the door and made threats in an audible voice. When the victim came out to the corridor to question the aggressor's behaviour, he was struck with a blow to the left side of the neck, puncturing the internal jugular vein. Despite profuse bleeding, the detainee continued the assault with a further four stab wounds to the neck and shoulders.
The injuries did not result in death because both victims received immediate medical attention, having been submitted to emergency surgery and admitted to an intensive care unit.
The investigation proceedings allowed for the full identification of the perpetrator and the collection of sufficient evidence for his arrest. The defendant will be brought before the first judicial interrogation for the application of precautionary measures. The inquiry is under the jurisdiction of the Public Ministry of Portimão.
