Suspected of causing a dozen fires in the Parks and Sports area during a single night, he was brought before a judge for bail measures.
53-year-old man captured over six fires in Amadora
The Lisbon Judicial Police detained a 53-year-old man suspected of having started half a dozen forest fires in the early morning of 12 June, all of them in the Amadora area. The fire outbreaks occurred in the Parks and Sports area.
According to the authorities, the individual used direct flame to start each of the six fires. The flames consumed an area of scrubland exceeding 13,000 square metres. The rapid intervention of firefighters was decisive in preventing the fire from reaching nearby vehicles and residential properties.
On Thursday afternoon, the detainee appeared before a judge, who decided on the bail measures to be applied. The investigation continues under the jurisdiction of the PJ.
