The Lisbon PSP arrested a 54-year-old man on a Monday in the Olivais parish, suspected of domestic violence against his mother. According to Correio da Manhã, a patrol car was dispatched to a residence where family disagreements were reportedly taking place.

At the scene, officers approached the victim, who confirmed that the suspect had been aggressive and shouting, damaging furniture in the home. When she attempted to calm him down, he assaulted her and threw her to the ground.

The man only stopped attacking his mother when two other family members entered the house. At that point, he seized a knife, retreated to the bedroom and continued making threats. He declared that he would "stab the knife into anyone who approached" and wounded his sister's hand when she attempted to disarm him.

When officers attempted to establish contact with the suspect, he responded with shouts and aggressive posture, gesticulating with his arms. He even punched one of the police officers in the chest before being arrested.

The two victims were transported to São José Hospital, where they received medical care. The knife was seized by the authorities.

After appearing before a judge for an initial interrogation, the man was placed on bail with an identity and residence requirement and was prohibited from contacting the victims.
