Repeat offender with criminal record arrested after series of break-ins in Telheiras
The PSP arrested a 54-year-old man with an extensive criminal record in Lisbon for burglaries in garages in the Telheiras neighbourhood, the force announced this Saturday. The suspect had been released from prison shortly before the crimes and was remanded in custody after being brought before a judge.
According to Correio da Manhã, the PSP describes the detainee as someone with "an extensive criminal record for similar crimes", who, after serving a custodial sentence, immediately resumed criminal activity.
The method used followed a consistent pattern: the man would break down the entrance door of buildings and condominiums and would then take advantage of "the lack of protection of goods left in garages to appropriate them", according to the PSP's description. In some cases, "he also had to break down individual garage doors to access their contents".
In just 15 days, the suspect committed at least five burglaries in the Telheiras area, generating a total loss of approximately 9,000 euros in stolen goods and damage caused to the facilities.
