GNR detains suspect with more than 1,000 doses of cocaine in Sines
The Judicial Court of Setúbal remanded in custody a 61-year-old man following his arrest in flagrante for drug trafficking in the municipality of Sines, reports Correio da Manhã.
The operation was conducted by the Setúbal Territorial Command of the GNR on 21 August, following an investigation that identified a critical area in the locality, marked by a high flow of consumers of illicit substances.
During a directed inspection operation to the location, members of the Guard intercepted the suspect, who adopted evasive behaviour in the presence of the authorities. A personal search revealed narcotics and cash in his possession, which immediately prompted a search of his home.
In total from the operation, the GNR seized 1,056.5 doses of cocaine and €2,074.50 in cash. Two precision scales, a firearm, a bladed weapon, three magazines and four rounds of ammunition were also seized.
The defendant awaits the continuation of proceedings at Setúbal Prison.
