The Judicial Police arrested a 64-year-old man strongly suspected of committing a crime of child sexual abuse against a child under 10 years of age on an island in the Central Group of the Azores Archipelago.

A 64-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police on suspicion of sexually abusing a 10-year-old child. The case occurred on an island belonging to the Central Group of the Azores.
The investigation was initiated in April, after the victim's mother filed a complaint with the authorities. During the course of the investigation, PJ investigators were able to establish that the crimes are believed to have been committed inside a commercial establishment, at a time when the suspect was alone with the child.
The detainee will be brought before the judicial authorities so that appropriate enforcement measures can be applied.
