Two arrests within two hours for disobedience to police orders
A 39-year-old man was arrested twice by the Public Security Police (PSP) in the early morning of 25 August after driving with an elevated blood alcohol level and repeatedly refusing to comply with the orders of the authorities, according to Google News PT — Crime.
The first arrest took place in Alhandra, during a road safety operation by the Vila Franca de Xira Police Division. Officers stopped a vehicle whose driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption. The preliminary qualitative breath test revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 1.54 g/l.
At the police station, the suspect allegedly simulated the quantitative breath test and refused to take the examination, even after being warned of the criminal consequences of this conduct. He was then arrested for the crime of non-compliance.
Two hours later, at 05:05, the same man was stopped again, this time in Alverca do Ribatejo, behind the wheel of the same vehicle. He had been formally notified that he was prohibited from driving for 12 hours as a result of the first police intervention. During the new traffic stop, he again refused to submit to an alcohol screening test, maintaining his refusal even after a fresh warning from the authorities.
In light of his repeated failure to comply with police instructions and his disregard for the driving ban imposed, the man was arrested a second time, now for the crime of qualified non-compliance. He will await trial at liberty.
