Man detained in Almeirim suspected of sexually abusing stepdaughters
A 31-year-old man, of foreign origin, was apprehended by the Judicial Police in the locality of Almeirim. He is accused of having committed sexual acts against two children, his stepdaughters, aged 9 and 10 years, in an environment of domestic violence. The mother of the girls, the detainee's partner, is also said to have been a victim of aggravated coercion.
The incidents under investigation are said to have taken place from 2023 until the time of arrest, within the family home. The family has lived in Portugal for approximately three years, maintaining positive social integration. Both parents work and the girls attend primary school, according to information provided by the authorities.
The National Republican Guard attended the crime scene, immediately alerting the Judicial Police, the body with exclusive jurisdiction to investigate this type of offence against minors.
After being heard in court, the defendant was subject to a Bond of Identity and Residence and required to leave the house where they lived.
