Homicide in Cambres, Lamego: 54-year-old man detained for fatal stabbing
A 54-year-old man has been detained by the Judicial Police on suspicion of qualified homicide in Cambres, Lamego. The victim died in the emergency department after being stabbed.
Man detained after fatal stabbing in Cambres
The Judicial Police detained a 54-year-old man suspected of the crime following a homicide that occurred yesterday around 13:00 in the locality of Cambres, in the municipality of Lamego. According to policiajudiciaria.pt, the detention was carried out outside of flagrante delicto by the Criminal Investigation Department of Vila Real.
The suspect is believed to have been involved in a dispute with an acquaintance, over reasons presumed to be linked to drug use. During the confrontation, he inflicted several blows with a sharp weapon on the victim.
The victim was promptly assisted, but did not survive the injuries and died in the Emergency Department of Lamego.
The detainee will be brought before a judge for questioning for the application of preventive measures. The investigation is being handled by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lamego.
