The investigative forces of the PJ in the Azores archipelago arrested a sixty-four-year-old man suspected of committing sexual acts with a ten-year-old child. The arrest took place as part of an inquiry initiated in April on an island in the Central group, after the child's mother reported the facts.
According to what was established, the incidents are believed to have occurred inside a local commercial establishment, at a time when the individual was alone with the child. The victim's mother was the one who alerted the authorities.
After being heard by the judge, the defendant was subject to three conditions: to present himself periodically at the police station in his area of residence, to keep away from the child and to undergo psychiatric monitoring. A source connected to the case confirmed these precautionary measures to the newspaper.
The case continues to be investigated under the direction of the Public Ministry.
