A 25-year-old man was remanded in custody after being arrested by the Judicial Police of Setúbal. The man is suspected of attempting to kill two individuals — aged 28 and 21 — at a café terrace in Barreiro, on the night of 16 June.
The incident of violence occurred while a football match was being broadcast at a café in the city. The detainee is said to have struck both victims with a razor blade, hitting one of them in the neck. The injuries were of such severity that they placed the victim's life in imminent danger.
Investigations by the PJ suggest that the tragic outcome had its origins in disagreements of little importance.
After appearing before the judge at his initial interrogation, the suspect was subjected to the most serious custodial measure. The Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Barreiro is directing the inquiry.
