A 28-year-old man was left in serious condition after being struck with multiple box-cutter blows to the head and face on Tuesday evening in Lavradio, in Barreiro municipality.

A 28-year-old man was seriously wounded on Tuesday evening in Lavradio, in Barreiro municipality, after being struck with multiple box-cutter blows to the head and face area. The incident occurred on Rua Alves da Cunha, at approximately 23:00.
A person passing by the location found the victim lying unconscious on the ground and immediately contacted the PSP. When officers from the local police station arrived, they found that fragments of the blade remained lodged in the injured man's body.
Volunteer firefighters from the locality provided first aid and took the young man to Barreiro Hospital, where he was stabilised. He was subsequently transferred to São José Hospital in the capital due to the severity of his injuries. A PSP source confirmed that the man's state of health is considered serious.
The case is being investigated by the PSP as a crime of qualified offences to physical integrity, given the use of a bladed weapon. The witness who raised the alert told authorities that they did not observe anyone fleeing the location.
