Caught passing drugs during visit, woman held in pre-trial detention
A 60-year-old woman was arrested at Lisbon prison after prison guards caught her passing hashish to an inmate during a visit, reports Correio da Manhã.
According to PSP, the arrest occurred on Friday of last week. The visitor managed to enter the prison facility with the narcotics in her possession. Minutes after the visit began, guards monitoring the visiting room noticed the concealed delivery of the drugs.
Following a search of the inmate, five packages of hashish were found, sufficient for 104.12 individual doses.
A PSP patrol was called to the facility and took custody of the woman. Brought before the court, she was remanded in pre-trial detention — the most serious measure of restraint provided for by law — apparently due to being a repeat offender in drug trafficking crimes.
