A 53-year-old woman was caught by the PSP attempting to introduce drugs into Caxias prison in Oeiras during a visit to an inmate.

Officers from the PSP intercepted a 53-year-old visitor who was attempting to bring narcotics into the Caxias penal institution, located in Oeiras. The arrest occurred as the suspect travelled to the location to meet an inmate.
At the access control point, police officers noticed objects concealed in the soles of a pair of trainers being carried by the suspect. In addition to the footwear, the woman was carrying two bags containing clothing and food.
Following a search, the authorities discovered five portions of illegal substance and four A4 sheets of paper impregnated with an equally prohibited compound. Laboratory analysis confirmed the substance to be hashish, in a quantity equivalent to approximately 182 individual doses.
The suspect is facing charges of drug trafficking under aggravated circumstances. Before the court, she was ordered to report periodically to the authorities, and entry to the penal institution was prohibited.
