A 33-year-old woman was arrested red-handed by the PSP in Évora on suspicion of drug trafficking on Saturday night during a traffic control operation. The case was disclosed on Tuesday, as reported by Correio da Manhã.
The arrest resulted in the seizure of over 500 grammes of hashish, cocaine and MDMA, combining the drugs found in the suspect's possession with those located in a subsequent house search. Officers also recovered objects associated with trafficking activity and a sum of money identified by the Public Prosecutor's Office as "proceeds from the sale" of narcotics to consumers.
In a statement published on the page of the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Évora, the Public Prosecutor's Office indicated that the defendant is "indicted for the practice of drug trafficking" and that there are strong indications that she had been "engaged in this criminal activity for at least the last year".
On Monday, the woman was brought before a preliminary court hearing. The judge ordered preventive detention, as the "risks of continuation of criminal activity and obstruction of the investigation" were verified.
The investigations are continuing under the direction of the 1st section of the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department (DIAP) of Évora, with the assistance of the PSP.
