The incident, classified as suicide accompanied by the homicide of the minor, is believed to have occurred in a context of domestic violence, according to Correio da Manhã, which cites an argument between the couple as the trigger for the act.
Margarida, a neighbour who lives in the same building, described what she witnessed as she went down the stairs: "I heard screaming and when I went down I was faced with a disturbing situation." The woman described the father lying on the ground, face down, and the little girl covered in blood.
The man is believed to have acted out of revenge against his partner, dragging the child to her death. The deceased victim was only four years old.
