Google News PT — Crime (pt) reports that the Institute of Social Security (ISS) has issued a public alert regarding a phishing campaign that improperly uses the image of the Social Security Portal to deceive citizens.
"Fraudulent messages are being sent in the name of Social Security," reads the note published by the ISS on its website. According to the institute headed by Pedro Corte Real, the messages generally include a link to a false page that mimics the visual appearance of the official portal.
The ISS classified the situation as "a phishing action, which aims to obtain confidential information or extort money, using the identity of Social Security in an abusive manner". The institute emphasised that these messages "have as their sole objective to allow their authors to obtain money or information in an illegitimate way".
The request to the public is direct: do not click on the link and do not provide any personal or banking data if you receive a message of this type.
"Social Security never sends links, nor does it request banking or personal data by SMS or other messages," the ISS reinforced, recommending that, in case of doubt, citizens consult exclusively the official channels of the institution.
