The Judicial Police arrested two individuals, aged between 23 and 27, in the localities of Porto and Gondomar, on suspicion of having carried out at least fifty frauds using digital means.
According to a statement from the police force, cited by Correio da Manhã, the investigation began following the identification of the acquisition of computer equipment marketed as legitimate but which was used for fraud schemes through the sending of mass deceptive messages.
Throughout the inquiry, evidence was gathered that the suspects made a living by providing, in exchange for payment, their technical knowledge and an extensive set of computer equipment and mobile communication cards to other people. This set enabled approximately 50 computer fraud crimes or crimes involving the use of computer means to be committed.
During search operations, thousands of envelopes, wallets and SIM card holders, 17 GSM/SMS Gateway Modem devices, seven computers, mobile phones and cryptocurrency valued at over 40,000 euros were seized.
The detainees will be brought to court for their first interrogation, where the measures of restraint to be applied will be determined.
