The Judicial Police captured a 40-year-old man wanted for attempted murder in Castelo Branco on Thursday. The incident dates back to 20 April, when a shooting occurred in the car park of a hypermarket situated in Portalegre, according to reporting by Correio da Manhã.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police, the violent episode resulted from previous disputes between two families, one of which was the detained man's. The man mistook the victim — a 33-year-old man — for a member of the rival family. Armed with a pistol, he fired five shots at the other man, hitting him in the left forearm and the thighs.
Since the date of the crime the suspect had been on the run. Now detained, he will be brought before a judge for the imposition of precautionary measures.
