The officer suffered injuries to his hand and an arm. Nonetheless, he attempted to pursue the attackers through the yards of nearby residences, without success: the suspects managed to flee to an unknown location and have not been located so far, according to the PSP.
In the vicinity of the crime scene, the victim's professional wallet and a bladed weapon were found, which, according to the authorities, may have been used during the robbery.
The Spanish police officer was transported to the Aveiro Region Local Health Unit, where he received treatment for his injuries. The investigation continues with a view to identifying and locating the two men involved.
