A PSP officer was directing the Lusitanian Armillary Movement, an organisation with neo-Nazi ideology. The Public Prosecutor's Office charged nine suspects, including the officer.
Portuguese police officer led far-right cell targeted in terrorism charge
A member of the PSP, identified as Bruno Gonçalves, held the leading position in the Lusitanian Armillary Movement (MAL). The organisation, which the Public Prosecutor's Office classifies as terrorist, promoted Holocaust denial and the apology for Nazism.
The public security officer dedicated all his available hours outside work to the cause of the movement. He also sought extra income through paid tasks, in order to secure his own funds to finance the group's initiatives.
This week, nine alleged members of MAL saw the Public Prosecutor's Office bring terrorism charges against them. Gonçalves is on the list of suspects. Five individuals formed the core of the structure.
