SOS Racismo was unaware of Movimento Armilar attack plans until media disclosure
The organisation SOS Racismo revealed that it only learned through the newspapers this week of the Movimento Armilar Lusitano's plans to attack its headquarters, located in the Portuguese capital. The entity asserts that throughout the entire investigation process, it received no contact from security forces or the judiciary.
Nuno Silva, one of the officials responsible for SOS Racismo, told the newspaper PÚBLICO that there was no communication from the Public Prosecutor's office during the investigation, nor even a request for additional information.
The organisation expresses concern about its protection, given that it was completely unaware of the intentions of the far-right collective. SOS Racismo adds that it has already submitted numerous complaints against right-wing radical groups, but that authorities have never heeded them.
The investigation into Movimento Armilar Lusitano, an organisation of a neo-Nazi character, demonstrated that its members aspired to establish "people's courts" to punish people and entities that they considered opponents. Among the targets were facilities of organisations such as SOS Racismo.
