Suspect in "Rolex Gang" dies in collision after victim pursues motorcycles in Lisbon
A man suspected of watch robbery died on Avenida de Berlim in Lisbon after the motorcycle he was on collided with the assault victim's vehicle.

A man suspected of being part of the so-called "Rolex Gang" died on Tuesday in Lisbon after the motorcycle he was travelling on struck a vehicle on Avenida de Berlim. The case was confirmed to news agency Lusa by superintendent Rúben Neves, spokesperson for the PSP, as reported by Google News PT.
According to Neves, the robbery was carried out by four individuals on board two motorcycles. In the first stage, one of the motorcycles struck the victim's vehicle with the aim of forcing it to stop. Subsequently, the occupants of a second motorcycle displayed a firearm, with no shots being fired, and took a watch and a chain.
"After the robbery, the driver of the vehicle pursued the motorcycles, striking one of them. Following the motorcycle's crash, the passenger falls and becomes unresponsive. He would die at the scene," explained the PSP spokesperson.
The driver of the damaged motorcycle fled the scene, as did the occupants of the second motorcycle. The case was handed over to the Criminal Police, which carried out expert examinations on the ground, with traffic blocked in both directions on Avenida de Berlim.
Series of snatch thefts over the weekend
Tuesday's incident follows two robberies recorded over the previous weekend. On Saturday, two suspects carried out a snatch theft of a luxury watch valued at 52,000 euros at the Intendente Metro station in Lisbon, fleeing immediately after the assault.
On Sunday, at around 18:00, a further snatch theft occurred on Avenida da Liberdade: the two suspects took a watch valued at 18,000 euros and fled by car. Both cases were reported to the PSP, which informed news agency Lusa through the Lisbon Metropolitan Command.
The Criminal Police is now conducting investigations relating to Tuesday's death, whilst the PSP continues to establish the circumstances of the assaults recorded during the weekend.
