Three detained in Lisbon with cocaine for 800,000 doses held in preventive custody

Three men were held in preventive custody after being detained in Lisbon following operation 'Check Out', conducted by the National Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking of the Judicial Police (PJ). Correio da Manhã reports that the seized cocaine, given its high purity, would be sufficient to produce more than 800,000 individual doses.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the PJ, the three detainees are 30, 35 and 41 years old. The authorities established that the suspects were preparing to "introduce into national territory a quantity of cocaine, which given its extreme purity, should it reach illicit distribution circuits would be sufficient for the composition of at least 802,110 individual doses".
In addition to the drug, the investigation enabled the seizure of a vehicle, cash money and other items "with probative relevance", the PJ stated.
After being presented for initial judicial interrogation, the court ordered preventive custody for the three defendants. The investigation continues under the authority of the PJ, with the inquiry being directed by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Lisbon.
