On 19 June, officers from the Benedita Territorial Post, integrated into the Leiria Territorial Command of the GNR, detained a 26-year-old individual for domestic violence in a public place in the municipality of Alcobaça.
The operation was triggered following a call alerting to an assault situation in a public space. Upon arriving at the indicated location, the officers noted that the woman was already showing signs of assault and that the presumed perpetrator continued to address her in an insulting and intimidating manner.
The situation escalated when, in front of the officers, the man attempted to punch his partner. The patrol managed to neutralise the attack and proceeded with the detention of the individual.
On the same date, the case was brought before the Alcobaça Judicial Court, which decided to apply the most severe coercive measure to the defendant: remand in custody.
