Braga Court sentences Mateus Marley to 21 and a half years for homicide
The Braga Court imposed a prison sentence of 21 and a half years on Mateus Marley Machado, convicted of the homicide of Manuel Fernandes, a 19-year-old youth. The case, which dates back to 2023, came to an end with the reading of the judicial decision.
The most emotional moment occurred when Marisol Fernandes, the victim's mother, addressed the defendant at the end of the session. With her face bathed in tears, she shouted at him: "I will never forgive you for what you did to my son. Never." The convicted man, already handcuffed and accompanied by three guards, turned around and denied responsibility with an "it was not me".
The sentence of more than two decades in custody reflects the severity of the act, classified by the judges as especially cruel. Manuel, affectionately called 'Manu' by his circle of friends, lost his life in an attack that deeply shook the Braga region.
