Fourteen persons aged between 16 and 54 were detained on 25 June 2026 by prosecutors from DIICOT – Pitești Territorial Service, within seven separate criminal cases, according to interespublic.ro. Argeș Tribunal subsequently ordered the preventive arrest of 10 of the defendants and house arrest for the other four, each for a period of 30 days.

The defendants are being investigated for large-scale drug trafficking in continuous form. Two of them are also charged with trafficking in controlled drugs. According to the DIICOT statement, during the period April–June 2026 they procured, possessed, mediated and sold, on the territory of Argeș County, crystalline substances of the type 3CMC, 4CMC, 4MMC and 3BMC. Two defendants also sold cannabis during the same period.

During the home searches carried out on 24 June 2026, investigators seized approximately 100 grammes of cannabis, 100 grammes of plant fragments and crystalline substance suspected of being large-scale drugs — undergoing expert analysis — objects bearing traces of substance and numerous utensils used for portioning and drug consumption.

The operation was carried out together with police officers from the Pitești Organised Crime Combat Brigade and benefited from the support of gendarmes from the Argeș County Gendarmerie Inspectorate.

According to judicial sources cited by interespublic.ro, some of the defendants allegedly rented apartments in Pitești where they organised parties, trafficking in and consuming drugs. Among those detained are minors, placed under house arrest.

One of the cases concerns the son of a judge from Argeș County, a young man with criminal records related to drugs. He is among those to whom judges of rights and liberties issued a warrant for preventive arrest for 30 days.

DIICOT states that all persons being investigated benefit from the rights and procedural guarantees provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as from the presumption of innocence.
