Preventive arrest for Călărași man who attacked Filipino woman
Oltenița Court issued a 30-day preventive arrest warrant on 30 June for a man from Călărași, accused of attempting to rape a woman from the Philippines. The incident took place on 11 June, at around 20:00, at the edge of a locality in the county, in the area of a dike next to a communal road.
According to investigators, the attacker exploited the language barrier — the victim does not speak Romanian — to forcibly drag her to a spot covered in vegetation. There, he undressed her and subjected her to acts of coercion, causing injuries to her face, neck, arms and back. Doctors determined that the wounds required medical care for 7-8 days.
The attacker also attempted to force the woman to perform oral sex, but she managed to escape by defending herself with a bite to the genital area. The gesture gave the victim the chance to free herself.
The following day, on 12 June, police detained the suspect for 24 hours. Subsequently, the judge for rights and freedoms at Oltenița decided to place him in preventive arrest. The local prosecutor's office continues to oversee the investigation to establish all details of the incident.
