A man aged twenty is being investigated by law enforcement for the distribution of prohibited substances. The investigation is being conducted by prosecutors from the Mehedinți territorial division within the department specialising in combating organised crime, with support from anti-drug police officers from the same county.
According to information obtained by Radio România Oltenia, during 2026, the individual allegedly purchased and subsequently resold significant quantities of illegal psychoactive products. These comprised over one hundred grams of cannabis, classified as a risk-category drug, as well as a dose of 2MMC, a synthetic substance from the cathinone family, classified as a high-risk drug.
Police officers from the locality of Baia de Aramă caught the suspect whilst he was transporting narcotic materials on his person. These were immediately confiscated and entered into the chain of evidence.
On 24 June, law enforcement conducted raids at two locations: the man's residence in the town of Baia de Aramă and a room in a university dormitory in Timișoara. On this occasion, investigators seized several objects contaminated with traces of substance, a high-precision measuring device and other relevant pieces of evidence.
Initially, prosecutors ordered the measure of detention for one day. The following day, on 25 June, the judge for rights and freedoms at the county court decided to place the defendant in preventive custody for a period of thirty days.
The operation also involved officers from the Organised Crime Fighting Brigade from Timișoara, as well as from the Mehedinți County Gendarmerie Inspectorate.
