A 59-year-old man has been held in preventive custody for 30 days, suspected of sexually assaulting two adolescents aged 14 and 15, neighbours of his, in Prahova county.

Law enforcement in Prahova county detained a 59-year-old individual, with magistrates subsequently ordering a month of preventive custody. The suspect is being investigated for acts of sexual assault committed against minors. The two adolescents, aged 14 and 15 respectively, live near the building where he is domiciled.
The investigation was initiated by police from Cocorăștii Colț Rural Police Station after a report was received on 12 June concerning the commission of offences against persons under 18 years of age.
Representatives of Prahova County Police Directorate stated that, based on investigative activities and evidence gathered, reasonable suspicion had emerged that the person in question was involved in committing criminal acts.
Mid-week, a team of investigators descended on the suspect's residence. Various objects and materials deemed useful for clarifying the case were seized. Additionally, a class F3 pyrotechnic element was found inside the house, in the man's possession without legal entitlement.
As the investigation progressed, information emerged linking the same suspect to another incident of a sexual nature, with the victim again being a minor girl.
According to sources close to the investigation, cited by News.ro, the individual carries out no professional activity. He is said to have exercised coercion against one of the girls, forcing her to touch him in intimate areas. In the case of the other victim, the aggressive act resulted in a blow to the buttocks.
The court decided to deprive the defendant of liberty for 30 days.
