Man from Cluj arrested after striking police officers with his head and foot in Dej
A 31-year-old man from Cluj county has been arrested on remand for assault after attacking police officers who had intervened at a disturbance in Dej.
Remand arrest in Dej after man attacks police officers while handcuffed
A 31-year-old man from Cluj county was detained and placed under arrest on remand on the charge of assault, according to Digi24. The incident took place on Sunday in the municipality of Dej, after his mother called the police complaining that her son was causing a disturbance.
At the scene, police found the man aggressive and intoxicated. He refused to calm down, directing insults and threats at the officers who were attempting to intervene.
Due to his dangerous behaviour, police proceeded to restrain and handcuff him. "While being transported to the police vehicle, the man became agitated and continued to direct insults and threats at the police officers, striking one police officer with his head in the face area and another police officer with his foot," Cluj Police officials said.
Initially, the man was admitted involuntarily to the psychiatric ward. On Monday, Dej District Court issued an arrest warrant against him for assault.
