Magistrates of the Bihor County Court decided on Tuesday to deprive a resident of Neamț County of liberty for 30 days, after he was detained on Monday by prosecutors in Oradea. The individual is suspected of using digital platforms to approach children and convince them to send him pornographic material, according to an investigation published by Bihoreanul.
Investigators identified the suspect as Ovidiu Iulian Pîrjolea. He is believed to have initiated conversations with a 15-year-old girl through messaging applications. To lure her, he sent her material with erotic content, attempting to get her to replicate those actions. The teenager did not give in to his insistence, and staff from DGASPC Bihor alerted the authorities.
However, an electronic search revealed that another child, a 12-year-old boy staying at the same protection centre, had been deceived by the same offender. The minor was present near the girl during their conversations and was persuaded to send compromising images. These files were later found on the man's mobile device.
Officers from the BCCO Oradea established that Pîrjolea operated multiple fake identities on social media, customised for each target. Between February 2025 and April 2026, he is believed to have accumulated over 1,100 photo and video files depicting children in explicit sexual situations.
The case is being investigated by DIICOT Oradea, with the assistance of gendarmes from Neamț. Until a final ruling, the accused person enjoys the presumption of innocence.
