A network comprising five members has been remanded in custody by judges on charges of distributing banned substances in the municipality on the Bega.

According to the criminal case file, members of the network were selling dried cannabis plants, cocaine powder and a synthetic substance called N-Ethylpentedrone. Sales prices ranged between 150 and 2,390 lei, depending on the type and quantity of the product.

N-Ethylpentedrone is part of the category of synthetic stimulants, being a relatively new molecule on Romania's black market. It produces effects similar to other drugs in the cathinone class.

Investigators claim that the offences were committed in continuous form, which means repeated and premeditated activity. The five suspects will remain in custody during the criminal investigation.
