Five individuals arrested in Galați for drug and psychoactive substance trafficking
An operation conducted by DIICOT prosecutors together with police officers specialising in combating organised crime has concluded with the detention of five people in the city of Galați. The action aimed at dismantling a network involved in the sale of narcotic substances and products with psychoactive effects, according to Radio România.
The suspects, aged between 24 and 39, are suspected of having, over the past year and a half, carried out activities involving procurement, storage, transport and brokerage of prohibited materials. Among these were crystalline and vegetable substances classified as highly dangerous drugs, including compounds such as 3CMC, 2CMC, 4CMC, 2MMC, MDMB-4enPINACA, 4BMC and MDMB-INACA. One of the detained individuals is also being investigated for cannabis trafficking.
On 14 June 2026, three members of the group were caught whilst carrying out illicit operations in the city. One suspect was arrested selling 2MMC for 5,000 lei. Two others had substances from the same category in their possession, prepared for delivery.
On the same day, law enforcement forces conducted raids at 13 addresses based on court-issued warrants. Approximately 200 grammes of crystalline materials (2MMC and 3CMC) were found and confiscated, a precision measuring device, a firearm, sums of money in lei, euros and Swiss francs (totalling the equivalent of over 21,000 lei), a vehicle and other evidence.
At the beginning of the week, all five were placed in custody. The prosecutor's office requested the court order their preventive arrest for one month.
Officers from Galați County Police, the Mobile Group of Bacău Gendarmerie and Galați County Gendarmerie also took part in the operation.
