A tourist complex in Vâlcea County illegally paid 70 employees over nearly three years, supplementing their contractual salaries with undeclared financial sums totalling 4.3 million lei, according to G4Media, citing MEDIAFAX.
ANAF Anti-Fraud inspectors identified the case during national inspections carried out in the HORECA sector. The checks focused on tax declarations, accounting records and internal company documents, covering the period 2022–2025.
During the inspection, inspectors discovered duplicate records of wage payments. Among the documents examined was a notebook in which informal payments made to employees were systematically recorded — sums that did not appear in official accounting records and for which tax obligations had not been paid.
According to ANAF, the sums withdrawn from the company's activities were recorded in accounting through documents indicating false situations of fact, with the purpose of concealing the real destination of the money and avoiding payment of contributions related to wage income.
Anti-fraud inspectors reclassified the illegally paid income for tax purposes and established additional tax obligations of 1.88 million lei. The company paid the entire amount to the state's consolidated general budget upon completion of the inspection, thereby acknowledging the facts established.
ANAF issued a warning regarding the broader consequences of such practices: "The incomplete or improper transfer of mandatory social contributions affects both the achievement of budget revenues and employees' right to social protection provided by pensions and medical services."
