A 48-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man have been remanded in custody, accused of selling psychoactive substances in the city of Satu Mare. The judge for rights and freedoms at the local court issued preventive arrest warrants valid for 30 days for both individuals.

According to official statements from the Satu Mare County Police Inspectorate, the investigation was conducted by police officers specialising in combating organised crime, together with officers from the Border Police and prosecutors from DIICOT in the area. The two suspects are being investigated for the distribution of low and high-risk drugs, offences committed repeatedly.

The reconstruction of events shows that in January 2026, the woman had in her apartment approximately 130 grams of 3-CMC (a substance known as "crystal"), 16 grams of 4-CMC, plus a quantity of cannabis. All of this was allegedly intended to be sold on the black market. She is also said to have given approximately 300 grams of 4-CMC to a 20-year-old girl.

In mid-March 2026, the young woman in question was caught by law enforcement officers at the border whilst attempting to sell the drugs she had received. The prosecutors ordered her to be held in custody, and on 18 March the court validated the measure restricting her freedom.

On the other hand, the 45-year-old man is believed to have had a constant role in the distribution of cannabis in Satu Mare throughout 2026. Part of the goods has already been seized by law enforcement. At the beginning of April 2026, law enforcement officers conducted raids on four residences belonging to the suspect. Approximately 85 grams of cannabis and additional evidence were seized, and three luxury cars were placed under seizure.

On 7 April 2026, DIICOT prosecutors decided to order the detention of the two accused individuals. The following day, the judge confirmed the preventive arrest for one month.

The operation was supported by forensic specialists from the Canine Police Unit of the Satu Mare County Police Inspectorate and by county gendarmes.
