Drugs worth over €200,000 seized by Constanța police officers
Law enforcement forces in Constanța have dismantled an illegal drug import network, managing to seize an impressive quantity of prohibited substances. The total value of confiscated goods exceeds €200,000.
The operation was coordinated by prosecutors from DIICOT – Constanța Territorial Service, who had been monitoring the activities of a 37-year-old individual suspected of drug trafficking both domestically and through imports. Investigators established that, during May 2026, the illegal businessman obtained several shipments from Spain, which he brought into Romania disguised in parcels sent through an international courier company.
Inside the packages were hidden over 10 kilograms of cannabis and approximately one kilogram of cocaine. On 29 May, investigators organised a flagrant operation, catching the suspect as he was loading the goods into his personal vehicle after collecting it from the courier company's workplace. The man intended to distribute the substances to various buyers.
Immediately after his capture, a team conducted a raid on his residence in Berceni, Ilfov County. Multiple sums of cash in lei, euros and pounds sterling were found and seized, as well as tools used for preparing doses: a grinding device and a high-precision electronic scale. Objects contaminated with traces of white powder were also discovered.
Prosecutors ordered the suspect to be held on 29 May, and the following day the judge for rights and freedoms at Constanța Court issued a remand detention warrant valid for 30 days.
Officers from BCCO Ilfov, as well as gendarmes from the Special Intervention Brigade, also participated in the operation.
