The anti-corruption prosecutors have charged Ciprian Ciucu with the alleged receipt of improper benefits consisting of public campaign advertising in the context of a real-estate project in Bucharest.

Ciprian Ciucu, who held the position of mayor of Sector 6 at the time of the alleged acts, has been charged by anti-corruption prosecutors with bribery. Along with him, three other individuals – two businessmen and an intermediary – have been placed under judicial supervision for two months.
The investigation stemmed from a broader case concerning the gambling industry, in which a Bulgarian citizen and an accomplice were detained for attempted bribery of employees of ONJN with sums exceeding €100,000. During that investigation, the investigators discovered elements that led to the opening of a separate case at the beginning of December 2025.
According to the indictment, in November 2025, two businessmen allegedly placed promotional and strategy services at the disposal of the politician for his electoral campaign for the position of Mayor of the General City Hall of the Capital. These benefits were allegedly granted in exchange for the administrative support necessary to unblock a construction project in Bucharest, a project aimed at obtaining town-planning permits.
Another defendant, also a businessman, allegedly acted as a link between those offering the advantages and the public official beneficiary. The prosecutors contend that there is evidence from which it appears that Ciucu accepted the alleged benefits in direct connection with his official duties.
The institution has not disclosed the exact value of the alleged bribe, unlike the initial gambling case where the amounts were specified explicitly.
