The evening of 24 June brought a pursuit through the streets of northern Bucharest. Officers from Precinct 4, on duty on Nicolae Titulescu Road, wanted to check the identity of two individuals whose presence seemed suspicious to them. Instead of cooperating, the two took to their heels, scattering in different directions.

The first, heading towards Banu Manta Boulevard, was caught shortly afterwards by an officer. The second, who was heading towards Bahluiului Street, continued to flee despite repeated warnings. To get him to stop, the officer pursuing him fired a warning shot into the air, vertically, in accordance with legal procedures. Only then did the 24-year-old youth give himself up and was securely restrained.

The other suspect is 23 years old. During the chase, one of them threw a bag under a car. Inside was a quantity of plants, for which there are indications that they may have psychoactive properties. The bag was seized, sealed and stored for expert analysis, to be sent to the anti-drugs units.

Representatives of the Bucharest Police emphasised that no one was injured, and no material damage was recorded. The investigation remains open, and the two will be investigated for the actions they committed.
