Marian Neacșu, proposed as Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Affairs Minister in the Veștea Government, was definitively convicted in 2016 by the High Court to six months imprisonment suspended for conflict of interests, after he employed his daughter at his parliamentary office.

Marian Neacșu, nominated for the position of Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Interior Ministry in the future executive led by Adrian Veștea, received a final criminal conviction for violation of regulations concerning conflict of interests.
In 2016, magistrates from the country's highest judicial authority imposed a sentence of six months detention, with execution suspended. The decision was made in the context that the politician proceeded to employ his direct descendant in a remunerated position within his deputy's office, a fact prohibited by current legislation.
Although he remained with a criminal record, Neacșu subsequently obtained rehabilitation, which reopened his access to public office. This legal instrument allows a person to regain the capacity to exercise functions and rights after meeting certain legal conditions.
A specialist in economics with doctoral studies completed in 2017, Neacșu, who is 62 years old, previously held the position of head of the apparatus of his office during 2021-2023. At the same time, between 2015 and 2018 he led the territorial organisation of the social-democratic party, managing regional structures.
His career was also marked by other controversial moments, such as support given in 2013 for a bill concerning amnesty and pardon, an event which remained in political history under the name of "Black Tuesday". Critics also reproached him for placing relatives in positions within central administration, such as his wife at the Pool for Insurance Against Natural Disasters or his brother at the institution which regulates civil aviation.
Currently, Neacșu is perceived as one of the key figures of social democracy and the main coordinator of governmental operations, receiving in May of this year responsibility for overseeing 13 ministries and structures under the executive's authority.
