Prosecutors at DIICOT have dismantled a group that distributed prohibited substances at parties organised by the Sri Lankan community. Nine individuals have been arrested on remand, with two others placed under judicial supervision.

Prosecutors from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) have succeeded in breaking up a network specialising in the sale of narcotics at parties organised by the Sri Lankan community in Romania.
Following the operation, nine Sri Lankan nationals were placed in preventive custody for a period of 30 days. Two other accomplices were released, but remain under judicial supervision, being obliged to comply with certain conditions imposed by the courts.
Investigators claim that members of the group regularly supplied the community events with drugs, creating an illicit distribution circuit among participants. The criminal activity was documented over time, and the authorities decided to intervene after they had gathered sufficient evidence.
The case continues to be handled by prosecutors specialising in combating organised crime.
