A man recently released from prison has been jailed again, accused of threatening four officers on duty with acts of violence.

An individual with a criminal record has been imprisoned shortly after his release, suspected of verbally terrorising an intervention team. Magistrates in Târgu Secuiesc decided on 22 June 2026 to remand him in custody for 30 days, at the request of the local prosecutor's office.
The facts for which K.E. is being held responsible occurred on 20 June, at around 22:40, outside his home in the Covasna town. Four officers – three police officers and one gendarme – had been dispatched there following an emergency call. While attempting to calm the situation, the suspect threatened them with death and physical assault.
The intervention team consisted of two officers from Rural Section no. 2, a colleague from the town's Public Order Bureau and a soldier from the Gendarmes Detachment. All were on duty.
One day later, on 21 June, the investigating prosecutor ordered deprivation of liberty for 24 hours. The capture of the suspect was carried out with assistance from colleagues from the Covasna County Police Inspectorate, the Criminal Investigation Service, the Public Order Bureau and those from the Special Operations Service.
The investigation revealed that the man has a consistent criminal history. He left the penitentiary in summer 2025, after serving over 12 years for qualified murder of a family member and for illegal possession of bladed weapons.
The institution handling the case emphasised that deprivation of liberty represents a procedural measure intended to ensure the proper conduct of the investigation, without prejudicing the right to the presumption of innocence.
