Arrests in Constanța in cross-border cannabis trafficking case
Authorities in Constanța have arrested two individuals, a 22-year-old adult and a 17-year-old teenager, suspected of international and domestic trafficking of narcotics.
According to information published by Radio Constanța, the investigation was initiated by officers from the local Organised Crime Fighting Brigade, under the coordination of DIICOT prosecutors.
The investigations show that during June 2026, the adult suspect allegedly purchased approximately 5.3 kilograms of cannabis from Spain. The substance was allegedly dispatched to Romania through a rapid delivery company, with the aim of subsequent sale.
On 24 June, the minor was caught at the moment when he was picking up the package with drugs, at the instruction of the adult. Specialists estimate that the goods would be worth around 60,000 euros on the clandestine market.
DIICOT prosecutors ordered the measure of detention for 24 hours on the night of 24 June. The next day, the court at the Constanța Tribunal was notified with a proposal for preventive arrest for a period of 30 days.
The two suspects enjoy the presumption of innocence and all legal guarantees during the criminal proceedings.
