Arrests in Constanța in cross-border cannabis trafficking case
The judicial authorities in Constanța detained two individuals suspected of bringing in and distributing narcotic substances. The investigation is being conducted by prosecutors from DIICOT – Territorial Bureau alongside BCCO officers, according to Radio Constanța.
A 22-year-old man is suspected of ordering approximately 5.3 kilograms of cannabis from Spain during the month of June 2026. The goods were reportedly shipped to Romania through a courier operator.
On 24 June, a teenager aged 17 was caught collecting the parcel containing the drugs at the request of the 22-year-old man. The estimated value of the substance on the clandestine market exceeds 60,000 euros.
The prosecutors decided to deprive the two of liberty for 24 hours. The following day, magistrates from Constanța Tribunal were presented with a request for their placement in preventive custody for one month.
The two are being investigated for the introduction and commercialisation of drugs of risk.
