A woman and two men have been detained by DIICOT prosecutors in Constanța on suspicion of trafficking banned substances. Investigators allege that the group brought 3CMC from Poland via courier companies.
Three people arrested on remand in Constanța in drug case
An 18-year-old woman and two men aged 20 and 25 have been detained by DIICOT prosecutors – the Constanța Territorial Service. They are suspected of being part of a network that brought and sold high-risk psychoactive substances on the coast.
Investigators say that, beginning in spring of this year, the 18-year-old woman obtained and sold quantities of 3CMC, together with a 19-year-old boy who is now being sought. The substance, generically called "crystal", was procured from Poland and sent to Romania through an international transport company.
In mid-June, police carried out a sting operation. The woman and her 20-year-old accomplice were caught picking up a package containing approximately three kilograms of drugs. Investigators also indicate that the 25-year-old man brokered sales of 3CMC for the person who is now evading the authorities.
Following home searches, investigators found ecstasy pills, cannabis, a laptop, money and objects bearing traces of banned substances.
Constanța Court has decided on the one-month remand arrest of the three. Prosecutors have also sought an arrest warrant for the 19-year-old suspect who was not found.
Officers from the Organised Crime Fighting Brigade and gendarmes from the Mobile Unit in Constanța participated in the operation.
According to Ziarul Amprenta, the investigation continues under the coordination of DIICOT.
